Autism Services Wins an Innovation Award for Middlefield Site
October 16, 2014
We are thrilled to announce that Aisling Discoveries Child and Family Centre received recognition from the Canadian Green Building Council, Greater Toronto Chapter. The CaCBC held a Gala and Awards Program on October 16, 2014 at the Arcadian Court. Our Middlefield site was purpose-built for our Autism program using environmentally friendly products and methods wherever possible.
At the time the building was completed, we achieved LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Silver certification which surpassed our expectations and goals. This fall, we submitted our project for a CaCBC Innovation in LEED Award which is bestowed to honour outstanding contributions to the green building community. We were shortlisted in the category of Commercial Interiors along with Citibank Toronto Head Office and Starbucks, Queen and Soho.
On October 16 we attended the gala and lo and behold – we won! Over 250 green building professionals and supporters attended the annual event to honour the award winners. Thanks to all of the autism services’ staff who look after our Middlefield site and keep our commitment to green living alive.
